First Day of School - 2020

Unlike my home country of New Zealand, where children start school anytime of the year, as long as they’ve turned five - German students all start on the same day. I can definitely appreciate the benefits of both approaches. One of them, here in Germany, being the chance for a celebration for the whole class, and family.

This is my third time photographing such a celebration and what I love is how different each one is. From the getting ready, to the ceremony and the family festivities afterwards.

This year, even amidst the times of coronavirus, it was still a beautiful moment to capture.
